On September 11, 2018, François Bausch, Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, and Corinne Cahen, Minister of Family and Integration, attended the official installation of the first wooden elements on the CDCL site in Sandweiler.
The new emergency structures will consist of two buildings, the Ministers having taken the opportunity to visit Building A. This part is intended to welcome homeless people during the harsh winter nights, on two floors. Building B will be dedicated to temporary accommodation for families in distress. 36 rooms will be established, as well as the necessary structures for supervisors.
The Public Building Administration wanted to make this site a pilot project: a hybrid construction using beech wood as building component. This is the first time in Luxembourg, which aims to promote the use of resources surrounding construction sites for future projects.
CDCL is carrying out general contracting work including :
- closed and covered structural works,
- technical installations,
- finishing and equipment.
"This is a leading project and a new technical achievement in the Luxembourg hybrid sector" explains Julien Rougel, Project Manager CDCL.
